Privacy Policy

StoryHuddle isn't open to play yet. For now, this site keeps a waitlist of people who want an invitation to the private beta, and this policy covers what we collect for it. StoryHuddle is run by PLOTPOINT Creative Media, LLC ("we" or "us").

What we collect

Giving us any of this is up to you, but we can't save you a seat without an email address.

• Your email address, when you save a seat.
• The kinds of stories you like, if you pick any.
• Referral details: your share code, the code of whoever's link you joined through, and how many people have joined through yours. If someone joins from the same network as the person who shared the link, we flag it for our own review.
• Signup details: when you joined, any campaign tags in the link you arrived by (such as utm_source), and a scrambled, one-way version of your IP address that we use only to catch fake signups.
• Visit details: a random ID your browser keeps, which version of the homepage you saw, and whether you signed up.

How we use it

• To email you when you join, and again when your invitation is ready. We won't send newsletters or other marketing unless you ask for them.
• To decide the order of invitations. People from our earlier playtest go first, and when a friend joins through your link, you both move up.
• To keep the list fair by catching fake signups and people referring themselves.
• To see which version of the homepage works better, and which kinds of stories people want most.

We don't sell your information or share it for advertising, and we don't use advertising or tracking services.

Who else handles it

• Railway hosts the site and its database in the United States.
• Resend sends our emails.
• Google Fonts supplies the fonts on our pages, so Google receives your IP address and basic browser details when a page loads.

Like any website, our servers also keep routine technical logs, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to keep the site running and secure.

What's kept in your browser

The waitlist doesn't use cookies. Your browser's local storage keeps the random visitor ID, your saved seat (your share code, your picks, and a private token that lets you change them), a friend's code from the link you arrived by, and your "Hold still" setting. Campaign tags from your link are kept only until you close the tab. You can clear all of it in your browser's settings.

How long we keep it

We keep your waitlist entry until you ask us to delete it. If you unsubscribe, we stop emailing you, but we keep your address and the date you unsubscribed so we never write to you again by mistake.

Your choices

• Every email we send has an unsubscribe link.
• Wherever you live, you can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, delete it or stop using it. Email privacy@storyhuddle.com and we'll reply within 30 days. Deleting your entry also gives up your place in line.
• In the EU or UK: we email you because you asked us to, and you can withdraw that at any time by unsubscribing. Everything else here, like keeping the list fair and seeing which homepage works better, relies on our legitimate interest in running the waitlist, and you can object to it. You can also complain to your local data protection authority. We're based in the United States, and your information is stored there.
• In the US: we don't sell or share personal information, and we don't use it for targeted advertising or profiling. Because we don't track you across other sites, we treat every visit the same whether or not your browser sends a Do Not Track signal.

If you joined our earlier playtest

We still have what you gave us then: your player name and code, any email address you added, your stories (including everything you typed), and any feedback you sent. We're keeping it so we can reconnect you with it when the beta opens. While the playtest ran, what you typed was sent through OpenRouter to AI model providers to write each story. If you save a seat in the browser you played in, the page sends us your saved player code, and if it matches our records, we link your email to your past play. To have any of it deleted, email us.

Children

StoryHuddle is for people 13 and older. If we learn that someone younger has joined the waitlist, we'll delete their entry.

Changes and contact

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If we ever want to use your email for something new, we'll ask you first.
